
Get ready because it’s almost time for the annual Blossomtime Parade in Benton Harbor and St. Joseph.
The big day is Saturday with the parade starting at 1 p.m. Road closures in St. Joseph will start at 10 a.m.
The St. Joseph Department of Public Safety says traffic entering St. Joseph from the north will be detoured west on to Port Street and then south on Lake Boulevard. Traffic wishing to continue south on M-63 will turn east on to Jones Street or continue south on Lake Boulevard for the I-94 Business Loop. Traffic coming from the south into St. Joseph will be diverted at westbound Jones and will follow the same route in reverse.
The detours will stay in effect until the end of the parade, which will be around 3:30 p.m.
Parking will not be allowed along several streets near the parade route Saturday morning. They include portions of State, Market, Pearl, Price, Jones, Court, Church, and Hoyt streets.
Everyone’s also advised that the Bicentennial Bridge will be closed from about 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Police add blankets and chairs in the city of St. Joseph will not be allowed on the parade route until 6 a.m. on the day of the parade.
