South Haven Theatre Series Presents an Immersive One-Woman Show

SH Theatre Series June 25

The South Haven Theatre Series is bringing a powerful piece of American history to life this summer.

On Saturday, June 14 at 7:30 PM, Listiak Auditorium will host A Revolution of Her Own!, a critically acclaimed, one-woman performance that tells the riveting story of Deborah Sampson, the first American woman to fight—and be honorably discharged—from the military.

In this immersive, one-hour production, Judith Kalaora, founder and artistic director of History At Play™, LLC, transforms into Deborah Sampson, drawing the audience into a world where women had no right to vote or own property—yet one determined woman dared to defy expectations. Kalaora brings Deborah’s story to life with passion, grit, and historical accuracy, wearing authentic colonial garb and sharing stories filled with courage, risk, and resilience.

From a childhood of hardship as an indentured servant to enlisting in the Continental Army disguised as a man, Deborah’s incredible journey is both inspiring and unforgettable. Expect action, emotion, and a deeper look at the Revolutionary War through a lens that history books often overlook.

⚠️ Please note: This performance includes simulated violence and is rated PG. Viewer discretion is advised.

Judith Kalaora is no stranger to South Haven audiences—many will remember her standout performance last year as Hollywood icon Hedy Lamarr. This return engagement is made possible by the South Haven Theatre Series, with support from the South Haven Area Community Foundation and individual and corporate donors.

🎟️ Tickets are just $15, and students get in free! Available online at www.southhaventheatreseries.org or at the door the night of the event.

An unforgettable night of living history—an empowering story, a remarkable performance, and a celebration of one woman’s fight for freedom–at the South Haven Theatre Series.
