The board of education says five were interviewed for the job on Saturday. Coming back on June 24 for a public meet and greet and second interviews will be Jeff Dase, Dr. Simone Griffin, and Dr. Dallas Lee.

Dace is the deputy superintendent of the Rock Island-Milan School District in Illinois, Griffin is the regional director of Learnwell Educational Services in Illinois, and Lee is the assistant superintendent of educational services at Elementary School District 159 in Illinois.

The interviews will immediately follow at 6 p.m. during a board of education meeting. As part of the interviews, each finalist will deliver a 10-minute presentation on a topic of their choice, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session with the public.

The board hopes to announce its selection on July 8. Meanwhile, it’s appointed Dr. Christopher Bernick, current director of special education for the district, as interim superintendent to serve and assist with the transition during the final stages of the search.
