October 11 marks the return of the Fit4Fall 5K Run/Walk, an annual race held in St. Joseph. The event is set to begin at 9 a.m. in front of Silver Beach County Park.
According to a statement from event sponsor LECO, this year’s race will benefit three local non-profit organizations: Caring Circle, Convoy of Hope, and the LOGAN Autism Learning Center of Southwest Michigan. Organizers say last year, the event raised over $30,000 for its chosen charities, attracting more than 450 racers and nearly 100 volunteers.
“These organizations have had such a positive impact in the community and surrounding areas,” said Race Director Maria Hutchins. “We’re honored to be able to show our support for them in this way.”
In addition to the race, there will be a silent auction with items donated by local businesses. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in various age categories, as well as the top overall runner and walker.
Early registration fees are $25 for adults and $15 for youth ages 14 and under. Prices increase to $30 for adults and $20 for youth after August 31. Participants have the option to register as a group of four or more to receive a $5 discount per person. All registrants will receive a race shirt, and the first 500 will also get a goodie bag.
Businesses interested in becoming sponsors, contributing to the goody bags, or donating silent auction items can find more information on the race website at www.fit4fall5k.com.
