‘Putting Economic Pieces into a Puzzling World Order’ at SH Speakers Series

SH Marci Rossell

The deficit, employment, interest rates, tariffs, tech giants, the cost of bread and butter…what is up with the economy? DrMarci Rosselle-McCarthy, a world-renowned economist and financial expert, will share her insights on this and much more for the South Haven Speakers Series program Thursday, October 16, 7 p.m. at the Lake Michigan College – South Haven campus.

Rossell-McCarthy, known internationally for her clear and engaging analysis, has advised governments, financial institutions, and corporations on global economic trends. Her compelling presentation style provides a vital connection between financial markets and the everyday lives of citizens.

“As an economist with real life experience, Marci knows how to interpret numbers counted in red and blue columns of a political spread sheet,” said Bob Copping, speakers’ series founder. “She speaks candidly on the connection of economics, politics, culture, and the media.”

Rossell-McCarthy earned her Ph. D. in economics from Southern Methodist University, where she was named “Young Alumni of the Year”. Her communication style allows her to effectively translate complex information.

She is the former Chief Economist for CNBC and former co-host of the well-known “pre-market” morning news and talk show Squawk Box.

Dr. Rossell-McCarthy will share the global economic outlook against the backdrop of policy change in Washington and how economies will adjust to a world of less trade and a weaker dollar, as the Federal Reserve deals with the return of inflationary pressures.

During this presentation Rossell-McCarthy will also touch on AI and other disruptors that are continuing to shake up the business world.

The event begins with refreshments at 6:30 p.m., followed by the presentation at 7 p.m.

The South Haven Speakers Series is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Approximately three-quarters of the Series’ budget is funded through the generosity of donors, whose support makes these community programs possible.
