Coming up next week will be 99.9 Y Country radio’s Stuff a Truck food drive at Roger’s Foodland in St. Joseph.
The Y Country team will be at Roger’s each day collecting non-perishable food and hygiene items to be donated to the Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency. The agency’s Kim Smith-Oldham told us last month it’s one of their biggest events of the year.
“That’s a week long where we’re at Rogers and St. Joe collecting donations of food and money, non-perishable foods,” Smith-Oldham said. “So that’s what we fill our pantry with.”
They’ll have a truck on site to haul away the items that shoppers donate. So, what items are most needed?
“It’s canned tuna, it’s baking product, it could be snacks like granola bars for the kids after school, breakfast items, anything to make a meal.”
Smith-Oldham will be at Roger’s with Jonny Reinhart meeting with people who come by.
Everyone’s encouraged to stop in at Roger’s Foodland throughout the week and make a few purchases to support the Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency as we head into the holidays and the need for food aid is greatest.
