The Buchanan Chamber of Commerce and the Buchanan Downtown Development Authority are rescheduling the Holiday Parade and Community Tree Lighting, originally planned for November 29th, to this Friday, December 12th.
The even was forced to be postponed due to the inclement weather which blanketed the region during Thanksgiving weekend.
But the magic of the season is not over! The Buchanan community is excited to announce that it will host a rescheduled holiday celebration on Friday, December 12 in downtown Buchanan.
Organizers say the holiday season is a time when community matters most: when we slow down, reconnect with neighbors, and create memories that carry us through the winter months. This event is intended to do exactly that by creating a welcoming opportunity for people to come together, celebrate the season, and enjoy downtown Buchanan as a shared gathering place.
The evening will begin with a festive holiday parade down Front Street at 6:30 PM, followed by a community program and the official tree lighting at The Commons immediately after the parade concludes. The procession will feature Santa and Mrs. Claus, accompanied by floats, fire trucks, and children in their holiday finest. The parade route will take onlookers to the annual tree lighting, a longstanding holiday tradition in Buchanan.
Many downtown Buchanan businesses will be joining the celebration by offering specials and promotions throughout the day, giving community members and visitors even more reason to spend time downtown, shop local, and support the small businesses that help make Buchanan what it is.
“This is a great opportunity for families, friends, and neighbors to come together and celebrate the season in downtown Buchanan,” said Fran Terry, Buchanan Chamber of Commerce. “Events like this remind us how important it is to stay connected, support one another, and keep traditions alive. We are excited to welcome everyone back on December 12 to enjoy the parade, shop our local businesses, and share in the holiday spirit.”
Julie Capron of the Buchanan Downtown Development Authority added,
“Downtown is more than streets and storefronts. It is where a community gathers. With the completion of so many downtown improvements, this event is a perfect way for our residents and visitors from across the region to see Buchanan’s new downtown and experience the small town charm that makes this community so unique. We are grateful for the partnership with the Chamber and for everyone who helps make events like this possible.”
The Buchanan Chamber of Commerce and Buchanan Downtown Development Authority encourage residents and visitors throughout the region to join the celebration on December 12 to enjoy the holiday festivities, explore downtown, and spend time together in the spirit of the season.
Please follow both the Buchanan Chamber of Commerce and the City of Buchanan on Facebook for updates as they are released.
