Set for February 14 in Buchanan is a new event intended to help any couple celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Dennis Mori with the Buchanan Business Boosters tells us “Fall in Love With Buchanan Again” will feature several businesses offering specials while romantic music is played and a photo booth is available. He says restaurants will be serving up Valentine’s Day-themed meals.
“Cafe Italiano in the sweet shop is doing a ravioli special, which is incredible,” Mori said. “I’ve had it before, and it’s a special for two ravioli, salad, sodas, choice of ice cream, gelato, cake, or cannoli. And it’s $55 for two people.”
And the Hilltop Creekside Cafe will have a special Greek menu.
Mori says this is one of the first events to be put on by the Business Boosters at a time when downtown Buchanan is coming out of a long nap due to a major construction project that kept some people away.
“It was a heck of a year, that’s for sure. But the streets are all finished, and there’s parking, and we’re very excited that everything’s opened up again.”
Mori tells us the Buchanan Business Boosters formed about a year ago to support the businesses affected by construction.
“Concerned business owners trying to figure out how to get people to their stores while the streets are closed. I mean, some of those ditches were 35 feet deep. So amazing. And then after the streets opened back up, they decided, well, should we disband the group or figure out what we can do? So they’ve decided to move forward with events to draw people downtown. And actually all of Buchanan will be doing citywide events also.”
“Fall in Love With Buchanan Again” is designed to encourage the community to shop local, connect with neighbors, and experience downtown Buchanan in a fresh and romantic way. Each participating business will be designated by a heart in the window, decorated by kids from the community. Children wishing to color a heart can pick them up and drop them off at the Buchanan District Library and Roti Roti Art Center during regular business hours prior to Valentine’s Day.
