A new twist on outdoor hospitality has arrived in the Benton Harbor area, as Sunrise Farms Venue expands its offerings with the launch of Sunrise Glamping.
The new venture, located at Sunrise Farms in Benton Charter Township, is a privately owned “glamping” site—short for “glamorous camping.” The concept blends the outdoor experience of traditional camping with many of the comforts typically associated with a hotel stay, such as real beds, finished interiors and on-site amenities.
Sunrise Glamping is the latest venture from Wilfredo and Brandy Jaquez, who also own Sunrise Farms Venue and previously operated the South Cliff Inn in St. Joseph. The couple says the expansion builds on their background in hospitality and events, while offering something different for the local market.
The site includes three furnished tents with a combined capacity of up to 14 guests. Each unit is designed to provide a more comfortable outdoor stay, with features such as full beds, décor, and access to shower facilities and indoor restrooms. The property also includes shared gathering spaces, fire pits and covered porch areas.
According to the owners, the glamping site is designed to complement the existing event business at Sunrise Farms, which hosts weddings and private functions. The additional lodging option is expected to appeal to wedding parties, small groups and visitors looking for a short-term getaway in a rural setting.
Amenities include a breakfast service and beverage bar, along with open space for group activities or small retreats. The setting is geared toward couples, families and small groups, with an emphasis on convenience and comfort in an outdoor environment.
While glamping has grown in popularity in recent years—with several sites operating near South Haven—this appears to be among the first offerings of its kind in the immediate Benton Harbor–St. Joseph market.
