A longtime Benton Harbor business is preparing to celebrate a milestone anniversary next week.
Fresh Décor Pro Hardware will mark its 25th anniversary with a day-long celebration on Tuesday, May 19, at its downtown Benton Harbor location at 283 Eighth Street.
The business plans to open at 8 a.m. with food, specials and prize drawings throughout the day. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Customers and community members are invited to stop by and meet the staff while learning more about the company’s products and services.
Fresh Décor was founded in 2001 by Dale DeLong, who built the business around paint, hardware, flooring and cabinetry while focusing on long-term relationships with customers and suppliers. Following DeLong’s death in 2024 after a battle with pancreatic cancer, day-to-day operations have continued under the leadership of his daughter, Kym DeLong, alongside Dale’s wife Joyce and longtime staff members Chris and Lupe.
The company says the anniversary celebration reflects both appreciation for community support over the years and optimism about the future.
Fresh Décor has expanded several times during its 25-year history, including the addition of Pro Hardware products in 2010, an expanded flooring department in 2022, and new cabinet and countertop offerings added in 2024. The business also completed a major hardware department reset and showroom improvements over the past year, followed by a grand reopening last spring.
More information about the business can be found through the company’s official website, Fresh Décor Pro Hardware.
