‘Aging Mastery Program’ At Buchanan Senior Center This Fall

Buchanan Area Senior Center (BASC) will present the Aging Mastery Program® in partnership with Region IV Area Agency on Aging starting September 20th.

Aging Mastery is a comprehensive and fun approach to living that celebrates the gift of longevity and empowers adults to make and maintain small but impactful changes. The courses help those preparing for retirement in 5-10 years or those already retired, and is open to those aged 55 years and older.

The classes will explore such things as:

• Financial fitness

• Advanced planning

• Navigating longer lives

• Physical activity

• Sleep

• Healthy eating and hydration

• Medication management

• Healthy relationships

*Falls prevention

*Community engagement

For each class, the agency provides educational materials developed from highly trusted sources, along with a checklist of next steps, and a system for tracking personal behaviors. This ten-week program was developed by the National Council on Aging (NCOA) and is offered at over 600 sites throughout the country. Each session is interactive and led by experts on the topics covered.

A couple who graduated from the program says, “Even when you think you are perfectly prepared for your later years, the Aging Mastery Program teaches you about ten very important areas of life that will prepare you to get through it all with gratitude. Make time for all ten classes now – we have found the benefits to be huge!”

The course is being offered for a fee of $30. Class size is limited and registration is required.
