Set for this Thursday, March 26 in South Haven is a discussion on the federal budget and how it affects everyone in Southwest Michigan.
The American Association of University Women, South Haven Chapter says “Find Out How The One Big Beautiful Bill, HR1, Will Affect YOU!” will be a chance for anyone to learn more about the wide-ranging impacts of the budget. The group’s Amy Nichols tells us there are questions everyone could be asking.
“What the effects of the changes are, what’s taking place when, how that is all going to happen, and specifically at this one — we’re going to do more of these conversations — but at this one, we are really talking about the impacts on Medicare, Medicaid and older adults and people with disabilities,” Nichols said.
That’s why the guest panelists will be Christine Vanlandingham of the Regional IV Area Agency on Aging and Nicole Hudson with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
Nichols says the Big, Beautiful Bill may have been signed last July, but it still matters now.
“I know it seems like other fires are burning in the world, but this one will affect so many more people than you will honestly believe.”
Nichols says the public is invited to the discussion. It’ll be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany at 410 Erie Street in South Haven. Doors open at 6 and there will be refreshments.
