Andrews Hosts Recyclorama

If your business has undergone a shift in technology or upgraded components leaving you with stacks of unwanted, outdated or obsolete electronics, make plans now to head for the Berrien Springs campus of Andrews University next week to safely unload your gear.

The Seventh Day Adventist institution in partnership with Green Earth Electronics Recycling will conduct its biannual electronics recycling event on Wednesday, March 30th from 3pm to 7pm. The event is open to businesses, residents and community members from throughout the area who are encouraged to recycle unwanted electronics at the transportation building on the Andrews University Campus.

Accepted items for this event are such things as computers, laptops, smart phones, monitors, television sets, telephones, cameras, DVD players, cords & cables, printers, toner cartridges, cell phones, refrigerators, air conditioners, appliances and any other electronic devices or items with a cord.

A hazardous waste fee will be collected for all monitors at $10 and all TVs at $20, while all other acceptable items will be recycled at no charge. Andrews University departments will not be charged hazardous waste fees, since the University is hosting the event. Hazardous waste fees for CRT TVs and computer monitors have been increased due to increasing handling costs for the recycler.

All hard drives are wiped clear to Department of Defense specifications or shredded. All businesses are encouraged to pre-register by e-maling to pickup@GreenEarth1.com or by calling 269-326-1232.

Any Andrews University departments interested in participating have been asked to contact Anton Pellegrini (anton@andrews.edu) no later than next Tuesday, March 20th, to have items picked up prior to the event.
