Andrews University Offers Overnight Solar Eclipse Trip to Tennessee

In less than two weeks the first total solar eclipse to cross the United States in nearly 40 years will take place, and amateur astronomers or either science and space geeks who just can’t live without capitalizing on the opportunity will get a bit of a leg up from the crew at Andrews University in Berrien Springs.

The Seventh-day Adventist university is offering the community-at-large with the opportunity to view the eclipse on Monday, August 21st with an overnight trip to Highland Academy in Portland, Tennessee.

The total eclipse is expected to be viewed by millions, and will be the first total solar eclipse to cross the United States since 1979.

Should the weather forecast indicate that viewing the eclipse will not be possible at Highland Academy, arrangements have been made for alternate viewing locations both east and west of the academy.

Early bird registration, which has been extended through August 10, is $190/person. Regular registration (after August 10) is $210. The trip price includes round-trip coach bus transportation to Highland Academy, overnight lodging at the academy, three vegetarian meals while at the academy, a pair of eclipse glasses, and bus transportation to an alternate viewing site (if needed due to weather). Cost does not include bed linens, towels or meals on the road, so participants are expected to plan accordingly.
