The inauguration for Andrews University President John Wesley Taylor V will be next week.
Andrews says Taylor became the seventh president of the university on July 1, following the retirement of Andrea Luxton.
He’s a fifth generation Adventist and fourth generation preacher who served for 50 years as a pastor in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Forty of those years were spent in one location, Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University.
With his inauguration this coming Tuesday, Andrews will formally recognize the president in his new role and rally the academic community around him.
The ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m. in the Pioneer Memorial Church sanctuary. It will be streamed online. A public Presidential Tree Planting ceremony will also take place on Tuesday 2:30 p.m. on the main campus near Buller Hall.
Taylor says as he settles into the role of Andrews University President, he endeavors “to lead with empathy and compassion, with a clear sense of purpose and with integrity.”
