Andrews Wind Symphony to Perform with Southwestern Michigan College Brass Band

The Andrews University Wind Symphony and Southwestern Michigan College Brass Band will present their winter concert, “Tunes and Traditions,” on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 8 p.m., in the Howard Performing Arts Center.

Under the direction of Mark Hollandsworth, the Southwestern Michigan College Brass Band will kick off the evening with a repertoire of Scottish traditions and Welsh tunes, featuring “Dragons’ Rise” by Matthew Hall and “David of the White Rock,” arranged by Philip Sparke. The band will continue with “Airs and Dances” by Alan Fernie, showcasing a dynamic range of emotions in three movements.

Following an intermission, the Andrews University Wind Symphony, directed by Denisse Santos, will take the stage to present a collection of classics, including John Philip Sousa’s “Semper Fidelis,” Percy Grainger’s “Ye Banks and Braes O Bonnie Doon” and Gustav Holst’s “First Suite in Eb.”
