Apple Valley Finally Closed? Customers say ‘Yes’

Apple Valley Mkt

A bit of drama and uncertainty continue to surround the future of Apple Valley Market in Berrien Springs and two sister stores in Battle Creek and Cadillac.

Social media posts from customers or employees of the Battle Creek and Cadillac Apple Valley stores seem to confirm the two markets shut down, effective Friday evening.  In one case, the store seemed to thank customers for past business and express hope for a reopening.  In the other customers lamented the closing and talked of years of loyal support for the store’s natural food products.

Meanwhile in Berrien Springs, store officials have continued to be tight lipped about what’s going on. However, multiple customers in the past couple of days took to Facebook to first announce the Friday 6pm closing, and then confirm it, with one woman saying on Friday night,  “I was the last customer”!

Another social media post talks of the Berrien Springs store reopening in about six weeks.  However, there was no source given for the prediction.  Nor is it clear whether Apple Valley would re-appear, or whether a new, different grocery store brand would take over.

MoodyOnTheMarket.com reported earlier this month that the Berrien Springs store building had been listed for sale with a Portage real estate firm.  Neither the realtor nor company ownership has announced any sale as of Friday midnight.  We will continue to monitor the fate and future of the Apple Valley Market location.
