This week’s grand re-opening of the Berrien Springs Pizza Hut proved to be a massive hit, drawing in hundreds of excited customers with a $1 large pizza promotion.
What was initially planned as a three-hour giveaway quickly turned into a bustling two-and-a-half-hour event, with nearly 500 pizzas distributed, according to Chad White, President and CEO of Michigan Pizza.
White said anticipation for the Tuesday event was high, with cars lining up even before the scheduled noon start time. By 11:30 AM, the parking lot was full, prompting an early opening to manage the crowd. The sheer volume of traffic resulted in White and his father donning vests to help direct the steady stream of nearly 500 cars. White said despite the overwhelming response, the event proceeded smoothly, with no incidents reported.
“That carryout window makes things super fast. You order ahead, and you can just grab and go. When the weather gets nasty, nobody wants to get out of their car. So yeah, it’s going to work out perfect,” said White.
“I appreciate the local Bering Springs community and all the people and their patience. They were very enjoyable the whole time we were in that line. People were high-fiving, thanking us, and you know the dollar pizza was more about giving back to the community. It also drew attention to our restaurant, but we wanted to kind of give back too, which was kind of fun.”
White expressed his gratitude for the Berrien Springs community’s patience and positive attitude, noting that customers were “high-fiving” and expressing thanks.
While the $1 pizza promotion won’t immediately return to Berrien Springs, White hinted at its potential for the upcoming St. Joseph Pizza Hut re-opening. Beyond the grand opening’s success, White highlighted the new Berrien Springs location’s convenient carryout window, designed for quick and easy order pickups. The event’s success was largely attributed to local radio advertising and limited digital campaigns.
