AutoZone Moving Into Former Rite Aid Site in Buchanan

Buchanan Auto Zone

There’s new life coming to the former Rite Aid building on East Front Street in Buchanan.

Auto parts retailer AutoZone has signed a lease for the 8,000-square-foot building at 715 E. Front Street, and construction is now underway to convert the space into a new store. The site sits along Buchanan’s primary retail corridor, with frontage on Front Street.

The move means another retail option returning to a highly visible, long-vacant location. The property includes on-site parking and prominent roadside signage, and is surrounded by a mix of national chains and longtime local businesses. The addition of AutoZone is expected to bring steady customer traffic and additional activity to that stretch of town.

AutoZone operates more than 6,000 stores nationwide and is known for its wide selection of auto parts and do-it-yourself repair support. The Buchanan store will add to the company’s footprint in Southwest Michigan, giving area drivers another nearby source for parts, tools and automotive supplies.

The lease transaction was handled by Joshua Jacobs of NAI Wisinski of West Michigan, along with Brandon Hanna of Encore Real Investment Services, representing the landlord. Mike Murray of Advantage Commercial Real Estate represented AutoZone.

An opening date has not yet been announced, but with construction now in motion, the transition from former pharmacy to auto parts store is officially underway.
