The Beckwith Theatre Company is inviting volunteers to help sustain live theatre in Southwest Michigan. The community-based nonprofit, which has operated in Dowagiac for more than 30 years, relies entirely on volunteers to support its productions and daily operations.
Opportunities are available in a variety of roles, including front-of-house positions such as greeting guests, selling tickets, and ushering; onstage work in directing and acting; backstage assistance with costumes, props, lighting, and sound; and set construction and painting. Volunteers can also help with marketing and outreach, fundraising, event planning, and administrative tasks.
Jennifer Shoemaker, president of the Beckwith Theatre Board of Directors, said volunteers are essential to the theatre’s mission and noted that prior experience is not required. Flexible schedules allow participation on a single production, occasional shifts, or throughout the season, with training provided.
Those interested in volunteering can email beckwiththeatreMI@gmail.com, call (269) 782-7653, or visit the theatre at 100 New York Ave., Dowagiac, during performance weekends.
