The Berrien County Parks Department will hold a chemicals and electronics recycling event next month, and this time it’s being hosted in the southern half of the county.

The department says Berrien County residents can drop off electronics, household chemicals, batteries, and home medical waste on Tuesday, June 3 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Chikaming Township Hall in Harbert. The event will be drive through only with everyone pulling up in their vehicles while staff and volunteers unload items.

As far as electronics, they’ll take anything with a cord and items that run on batteries, including computer equipment, large appliances, lights, phones, tablets, power tools, DVD players, and stereo equipment. Those items will all be free to recycle. Televisions and computer monitors will come with fees of $20 and $10, respectively.

For chemicals, the county will take home, garden, and workshop chemicals, cleaners, oils, fuels, solvents, pesticides, oil-based paint, and cleaners.

If dropping off medications, empty out pill bottles into zip-lock bags.

Berrien County holds several recycling events throughout the year. More will be coming up in September and October.
