The Berrien County Historical Association has found a new director heading into the new year.

Speaking to colleagues Thursday, Berrien County Commissioner Jim Curran said the association’s board in November named John Moga the interim director, temporarily replacing former director Rhiannon Cizon. The plan had been to find a permanent replacement for Cizon in 2026, but Curran said he learned at a recent meeting there’s been a slight change of plans.

They’re not going to search for an executive director,” Curran said. “They’re going to see if John will fit into that position. If he does, he’ll stay. If not, it’s on a probationary period and they’ll replace him.”

Moga served as the curator of the Berrien County Historical Association when he was chosen to act as interim director. He’s now managing the business needs of the museum alongside his role as curator.
