Berrien County Will Test Emergency Notification System on Cellphones Friday

If you’re planning a long and late night on this New Year’s Eve and plan to sleep well into the afternoon tomorrow to make up for it, you might want to leave your cellphone in the kitchen to avoid being jangled out of your sleep by an upcoming Emergency Notification System test planned for tomorrow afternoon, Friday, January 1st, 2021.

The emergency notification systems, IPAWs and B-Warn, will be tested tomorrow, January 1st, 2021, between 3pm and 4pm. Regular testing of those systems will also occur on the first Friday of each month at 3:00pm going forward.

If your cellphone or other cellular device is enabled to receive Wireless Emergency Alerts, you will receive a test message at the time of that test. IPAWs does not require sign up since it is a location based notification system. If, however, you would like to receive those Wireless Emergency Alerts even when you are not in the immediate area, you may sign up to receive B-Warn notifications by clicking this link: https://www.berriencounty.org/1283/B-WARN-Sign-Up-for-Alerts
