A ribbon cutting on renovations to the American Legion hall in Bridgman will be held today, August 13.

Greater Bridgman Chamber and Growth Alliance Director Nancy Kiernan tells us work has been going on for months to spruce up the hall on Legion Street.

“They really redid the hall in a big way,” Kiernan said. “It was a lot of sweat equity, donations, hard work. They’ve really freshened up the entire facility with beautiful new paint job, cleaning everything up, ceiling work, and then refixturing the patio, and it really looks beautiful.”

Kiernan tells us the place looks bigger on the inside with the new paint job. She says the American Legion’s own members made the remodeling possible.

The Bridgman American Legion was founded in 1952 and serves around 100 members. Kiernan says it’s long been a fixture in the community, often holding famous Wing Nights.

The ribbon cutting will be hosted by the Bridgman CGA and the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber at 4 p.m. today and the public is invited. Wing Night begins at 5 p.m. Everyone’s invited to stick around for some good food and conversation.
