The Cass District Library has announced the appointment of Christopher Korenowsky as its new Library Director, with his tenure beginning on August 18. Library officials say Korenowsky will take over the role from Barbara Gordon, who left the position in June after over six years of service.
According to the county’s announcement, Korenowsky brings more than two decades of experience in library leadership to the role. He previously served as the Chief of Operations at the Detroit Public Library, where he was instrumental in securing the library’s funding for the next decade.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Chris,” said Eileen Toney, President of the Library Board. “His deep commitment to public service and community engagement will help expand and enrich a resource that serves thousands across Cass County.”
Korenowsky holds a Master of Information Management and Library Science from Kent State University and is enthusiastic about the future of the Cass District Library. He specifically highlighted the ongoing Edwardsburg Branch build project, which he noted is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The new location will feature a 1,143-square-foot community room, expanded collections, and new technologies.
“I am delighted to be joining the Cass District Library,” Korenowsky stated. “It is an honor to be joining at a very exciting time in its history. I am looking forward to serving the people of Cass County.”
