Families looking for an early taste of spring can mark their calendars for a longtime seasonal favorite in Cass County.
The Cass County Parks and Recreation will host its annual “Spring Egg-stravaganza” on Saturday, March 28 at Dr. T.K. Lawless Park. The family-friendly event runs from noon to 2 p.m. and features an afternoon of activities for children and parents alike.
Admission is $3 per person or two canned goods, with all donated food going to a local pantry.
The highlight of the day will be the Easter egg hunts, with thousands of candy-filled eggs hidden throughout the park. To give younger children a fair chance, the hunts are divided by age group:
-
Ages 2–4: Approximately 12:30 p.m.
-
Ages 5–10: Approximately 1:30 p.m.
In addition to the egg hunts, families can enjoy a variety of activities throughout the afternoon, including an inflatable slide, face painting, crafts, wagon rides, and appearances by Patty’s Doodlebug Express and Whitney’s Magic Minis & More. A bonfire and warm food and beverages will also be available.
The Easter Bunny will also make a special appearance for photos and visits with children, so organizers encourage families to bring cameras.
The event is presented by the parks department with help from the Friends of the Cass County Parks.
Because the event takes place outdoors, participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, as early spring conditions can be unpredictable.
