Cassopolis Family Clinic Network Partners With U of M Dental School

Like most U.S. industries, the oral health profession has experienced wide-spread labor shortages, and industry experts do not expect it will end any time soon.  The lack of available dentists is causing many dental practices to not only compete against each other, but with other industries, as employers are exploring creative ways to solve their labor shortages.  To help strengthen the pipeline of future dentists, the Cassopolis Family Clinic Network (CFCN) is excited to announce a partnership with the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry.  The partnership is expected to kick off September 1, 2022 at the Niles Community Health Center dental location.

The collaboration between CFCN and the U of M School of Dentistry will serve to introduce dental students to hands-on experience outside of the college classroom.  These fourth-year students will engage in a service-learning rotation as part of their required training.  Students will work along-side our experienced staff to provide patients with dental care, including oral exams and diagnostic services, cleanings, fillings, basic restorative dental care, extractions, sealants and removable dentures.

“We’re really excited to create this new partnership with the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry to help develop and train future dentists,” said Mary Middleton, CEO.  “Unfortunately, we’ve had to temporarily close our Cassopolis dental services due to lack of staff.  We hope to use the teaching program as a recruitment tool and bring more dentists to our company.”

Niles Community Health Dental Center is located at 122 Grant Street, Niles, MI.  Dental services are offered Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. For more information or to schedule an appointment please call (269) 262-4364.
