As Winter grinds on, we’re reminded that our weather conditions make for especially challenging conditions for our firefighters and first responders.
Free lance Reporter Tom Renner in South Haven tells us about the challenges faced by Covert firefighters and assisting departments Tuesday morning:
“Getting to the scene of a fire is especially challenging in the winter months as evidenced Tuesday morning (8:42 a.m.) at a barn fire in Covert Township.
Firefighters had to trudge through foot-deep snow and stretch hoselines several hundred feet to reach the fire at 73417 county road 378.
Three goats in the totally destroyed barn perished in the blaze.
Covert Fire Department was assisted by SHAES, Bangor Community and Watervliet departments.”
