After some downtime for repairs after several years of operation, the Whirlpool Compass Fountain in downtown St. Joseph is back up and running, bringing smiles to kids’ faces despite the cool weather.
Nearby, Silver Beach County Park has lifeguards on duty beginning today (Saturday). There were a few hardy families on the beach, but very few venturing into the water.
NEW BEACH TRAFFIC FLOW
If you are headed to the beach, remember the new traffic pattern below the bluff in St. Joseph. Broad Street traffic is ‘one way’ Westward in both lanes from the railroad tracks (Silver Beach Pizza) to the Silver Beach Park entrance and past heading South on Lake Street for one block to Elm. The concept is designed to facilitate traffic into the Beach parking lots, while allowing ‘thru’ traffic to use the left lane, turning South along the beachfront.
