Consumers Energy Will Not Use Original Route for New HVD Line in Van Buren County

There’s been a change of plans from Consumers Energy when it comes to a high voltage power line it’s planning to build in Van Buren County. The plan was to build the line through part of Paw Paw Township, but residents opposed it, complaining it would damage their property. Consumers spokesperson Josh Paciorek tells us the people have spoken.

“We will not be using that original route,” Paciorek said. “We got a lot of constructive feedback from community leaders, community members, and at the end of the day, we’ve been doing projects like this for 130 years that the company has been around. In any of these projects, what we strive to do is be a good community neighbor.”

Paciorek says a more prudent route will be found, although it hasn’t been identified yet. Consumers Energy will remain in contact with residents as it plans the new route. Anyone who wants to make comments or suggestions can contact the company.
