The Berrien County Youth Fair has announced this year’s grandstand lineup.
Youth Fair spokesperson Jill Hein tells us the 81st annual fair will be August 17 through August 22 with a theme to mark an important anniversary.
“Our theme this year, to go along with the 250th anniversary of the United States, our theme is Happy Birthday, America,” Hein said. “So we’re really excited to do patriotic things and just have a patriotic feel this year.”
Hein says the grandstand shows will begin on Sunday, August 16 — before the fair officially opens — with the Street Legal Pickup Truck and Tractor Pull. Monday, the first day of the fair, will feature the always popular and always loud NTPA Truck and Tractor Pull. Tuesday will be Kids Day, when kids get in for free, and the grandstand show will be three free Circus Continental shows.
Hein says Wednesday will bring the headliner, country star Jackson Dean.
“He’s been around for a few years, but he’s got hit songs like Heaven’s To Betsy. That’s the one that’s kind of making its way around the radio right now. Fearless, Don’t Come Lookin.’ I’m sure anybody is going to recognize his songs.”
Hein says Thursday will feature something new, and again free, on the grandstand.
“Thursday we’re bringing in a group, kind of a regional Michigan group. It’s called Three Men and a Tenor, and they’re going to be singing The Music of America. So they’ve got some cool patriotic songs and that show is actually going to be a free show that day.”
Returning Friday, August 21 will be the TNT Demolition Derby, and then Saturday will wrap things up with Bullmania. Hein says the fair will also feature food, rides, and of course, the displays put on by the hardworking youth of Berrien County.
“We’ve had lots of exhibitors working hard all year on their exhibits, and we hope that you can make it over to the exhibit buildings and see how hard the exhibitors have been working, and then also just walk around the fair and see what else we’ve got coming.”
Last year’s Berrien County Youth Fair attracted around 100,000 people, and they’re hoping for more this year. Stay tuned as more fair details are released, and Hein says they’ll see you in August.
