County Commissioners To Interview Four Applicants For Vacancy

The Berrien County Board of Commissioners will interview four applicants for a vacancy next week. Former Commissioner Don Meeks has resigned, leaving the District Three seat empty. County commissioners received four applications from residents interested in replacing him by the Tuesday deadline. Commissioner Bob Harrison said Thursday interviews can be done the following Thursday.

“We’ll ask for each candidate to give a brief summary,” Harrison said. “Who they are, why they’re interested, and then three or four specific questions. Some of it’s based on how many candidates you’d like to interview.”

Commissioners chose to interview all four applicants. They will sequester candidates while interviewing other candidates so none have an advantage by learning their questions in advance. Whoever the board picks to replace Meeks will serve the remainder of his term, which ends in December.
