Cyber Week Shopping Tips from Consumer Survey

This Saturday (11/25) marks 30 days ‘til Christmas. Have you bought all of your gifts yet?

According to a recent survey conducted by TopCashback.com  a popular  cash back site, over half of Americans (54%) plan to shop online via desktop and/or mobile app(s) this holiday season.

The survey polled a cross-section of 1,666 US-based adults, aged 18 and over.

So if you’re planning to shop holiday deals this Cyber Week, here are four tips from Samantha Landau, consumer advisor at TopCashback:

Have your money-saving tools ready. “When browsing the web for deals, make sure you’re prepared with free tools to help you get the best price. Use a cash back site, like TopCashback, which guarantees the highest percentage of your money back on qualifying purchases at over 7,000 retailers nationwide. TopCashback prioritizes helping people save money and is the only free cash back site in the US that gives 100% of the commission earned on purchases through its site back to members — so you can be confident you’re getting the best deal possible.
Read the fine print. “Major markdowns? Yes, please! But before you place your order, be sure to read the fine print. Will the item get delivered on time? What about the store’s return policy? By reading these notes on the product page, you can save yourself some stress in the coming weeks when you’re tracking your package(s) or looking to return an item.
·        Pro-tip: “Avoid returns this holiday season by reading the reviews prior to purchasing anything online. If the item is not exactly as described on the website, the reviewers will tell you. Make sure you trust the retailer you’re buying from, too.”

Avoid temptation. “Holiday gift sets, accessories and miscellaneous products may seem useful and get you to that ‘free gift with purchase’ or ‘free shipping’ threshold, but don’t let these items distract you from your budget. If you’re adding items you know you won’t use to your cart solely to score a larger discount or deal, consider leaving them out of your order.”

Be prepared. “If you find yourself looking for a deal during Cyber Week, make sure you’re ready to make a purchase right then and there since items can sell out in a matter of seconds. Make sure your devices are charged and have your credit cards ready to go. With popular presents and major sales, items can sell out while you’re inputting your credit card info or still browsing. So, be prepared and have everything you need to make a purchase now.”
