EB I-94 Ramp at Watervliet to be Closed for 7 Weeks

If your travels routinely take you to Watervliet for business or any other reason, here’s an important heads up regarding a construction project that will impact your access. The Michigan Department of Transportation tells us that starting next Monday, September 9th, 2019, bridge work on Eastbound I-94 at M-140 in Watervliet will result in the closure of Eastbound Exit Ramp at Exit 41.

That $340,000 project, which involves work on the EB I-94 bridge over M-140, will include joint replacement, deck sealing, railing replacement, and approach work there. The work is expected to be complete by Friday, October 25th, but the Exit 41 EB ramp will be closed to traffic throughout the entire length of the project according to MDOT.

Designed to extend the service life of the bridge and improve safety there, the ramp closure will force a detour which will take traffic from eastbound I-94 to Exit 39 Friday Road/Church Street, north to Red Arrow Highway, then east to M-140. The WB ramp at Exit 41 will not be impacted by the construction work.

MDOT says you can find other project details and a map at Mi Drive online.

Two eastbound lanes will be open on I-94 during construction, however, the eastbound I-94 ramp to M-140 at Exit 41 will be closed throughout construction.
