Extensive Summer Camp program at Lake Michigan College–registration open

 Registration is open for more than a dozen Fab Lab, performing arts, and athletic summer camps hosted by Lake Michigan College. All camps will be held on LMC’s Benton Harbor Campus, 2755 E. Napier Ave. Early registration is encouraged as camps can fill quickly.
 
Fab Lab Camps
The Lake Michigan College Fab Lab is where creativity meets technology. Fab Lab summer camps provide fun, hands-on projects that spark creativity and allow participants to develop collaboration, teamwork, critical thinking, and communication skills. Participants can explore a variety of tools in a supervised setting, including 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, CNC routers, Adobe Creative Suite, embroidery and sewing machines, and more. Each camp is conducted under the guidance of college faculty and staff. Opportunities are available for campers as young as 6 through high school and beyond.

Get creative making things with 3D printers, computer-aided design, sewing machines, laser cutters, woodworking tools, and more. Experiment with ideas in an environment of trying, re-thinking the process, and trying again to improve the design. Campers can choose from a variety of hands-on projects and work at their own pace.
NEW THIS YEAR! Soldering Art Summer Camp

Learn to safely and confidently handle a soldering iron and create up to 10 unique jewelry pieces using beads, colored stones, copper and silver wire, and patina. Projects may include caged crystal pendants, guitar string G-clef pendants, beaded soldered headpins, and the Tree of Life pendant. Each student takes home their finished projects, soldering iron, and newfound skills.
LEGO® Animation & Digital Design
June 22-July 2, 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Thursday, ages 8+, $259

Discover how LEGO creations come to life through digital modeling and animation. Using Blender, a professional-grade creative software, participants will design LEGO-inspired models and create their own animated scenes. Learn 3D modeling, animation, rendering, visual effects, and creative storytelling through motion.
NEW THIS YEAR! Airbrush Art & Design
July 6-9, 1:30-4:30 p.m., middle schoolers, $150

Unleash creativity with professional airbrush tools while exploring techniques for shading, blending, stenciling, and creating bold color effects. Campers will design and paint custom artwork on T-shirts, canvas panels, tote bags, and more. By the end of camp, every student will take home a collection of personalized airbrushed creations.
Little Makers & Big Ideas
July 13-16, 9 a.m.-noon, ages 6-10, $165

Get ready for four days of crafting and decorating projects while exploring the Fab Lab. Students will be shown how the 3D printer, lasers, vinyl cutter, and sewing machines work. This is similar to the Maker Playground camp but designed for a younger crowd.
Sewing Studio Creations
July 20-23, 1:30-4:30 p.m., ages 8+, $149

Learn how a sewing machine works, how to read and customize patterns, measure the body, create seams, do alterations, and more. Campers will create and complete as many projects as they desire while building real skills that bring ideas from concept to creation.
NEW THIS YEAR! Build a Clock Circuit
Aug. 3-5, 1:30-4:30 p.m., ages 8+, $150

Dive into the fundamentals of digital electronics by building a working clock circuit from the ground up. Learn how to safely use a breadboard to assemble electronic circuits using TTL logic chips, resistors, LEDs, and timing components. No soldering required. By the end of camp, each participant will understand how a clock circuit works and how timing drives modern electronics.
Build Your Own 3D Printer
Aug. 17-18, 1:30-3:30 p.m., all ages 12+, $370

Start with a 3D printer kit and finish with a fully functioning 3D printer. Along the way, participants will learn how to maintain and operate the finished creation. Kit and one roll of filament are included in the price of the camp. This camp is ideal for individuals, siblings, or families who want to build together.
Performing Arts Camps
Junior high and high school music students can enhance their performance skills through camps offered by the LMC Visual & Performing Arts Department. Each camp is taught by college faculty and held in the LMC Mendel Center, the largest performing arts facility in Southwest Michigan.
VPA Recording Arts Camp
July 6-8, 9 a.m.-noon, grades 7-12 in Fall 2026, $100

Learn what it’s like to be in a recording studio! Explore setting up and placing microphones, recording and editing in Pro Tools and MIDI, integrating music and video, and applying basic mixing and mastering techniques.
 
VPA Piano Camp

Whether just beginning or playing for years, build and enhance skills and performance confidence. Work on solos, duets, and small ensemble pieces under the instruction of LMC piano faculty member Alexandra Lee. The week culminates with a recital performance at 11 a.m. on July 16 in the Hanson Theatre.
Athletic Camps
The Lake Michigan College Athletic Department will offer 2-day volleyball camps for middle school and high school athletes.
Elite High School Volleyball Camp
Aug. 3-4, 5-7 p.m., grades 9-12 in Fall 2026, $55.20
Get ready to bump, set, spike, and dive at a camp where future volleyball stars are made! Increase skill level, learn new techniques, and grow as an athlete under the instruction of experienced coaches.
Middle School Volleyball Camp
Aug. 10-11, 5-7 p.m., grades 6-8 in Fall 2026, $55.20
It’s game time! Get ready to bump, set, spike, and dive as you learn from experienced coaches and meet new friends who share a passion for volleyball! Perfect for beginners and those with some experience in the sport.
