Glendora Bookshop will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon cutting performed by the Buchanan Area Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, April 27th at 12pm. The bookstore is located at 110 E. Front Street, Buchanan.

Glendora Bookshop is a small, general-interest bookstore that carries a wide variety of literary and genre fiction, non-fiction, plus books for children and young adults. Accessible to all readers looking for original stories or hoping to make unexpected finds, we nurture exploration and encourage browsing amid our unique book selection. We offer knowledgeable, friendly assistance, and are committed to excellent customer service. If we don’t carry what you’re looking for, we’ll get it for you. Beginning in May: book groups, used book buy-backs for store credit, and a loyalty program for frequent shoppers.

While Glendora Bookshop has been open since last December, its official Grand Opening corresponds with National Independent Bookstore Day and the first day of the MI Book Hop.

Store owner Carla Mayer, a Buchanan Township resident, says she’s overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm the store has received so far. “I had hoped that making a place to gather and find books in downtown Buchanan would be a welcome addition, but I just wasn’t sure. Understanding that others were hungry for such a place, too, has been a wonderful surprise!”

She says she wants the bookshop to become a hub and an indispensable resource for the community, a place neighbors and destination-visitors, as well as organizations and businesses, can rely on and feel welcome.
