A local medical spa has undergone a facelift of its own.
Husband-wife duo Jonathan and April Sigg have purchased Glo Medical Aesthetics and Wellness, rebranding it as The Aesthetics Lounge and Spa, a Florida-based franchise with 14 locations.
The couple has connections to the area as well, with April graduating from St. Joseph High School and Jonathan getting his first job in the emergency room of the hospital.
“The individual we bought Glo from was actually a PA I worked with in the ER,” Jonathan said. “As we saw what they were doing, we talked about it and agreed that we could make this something so much bigger and better if we combined forces with it.”
Jonathan said they are retaining all current staff, and are simply rebranding it, with some expanded services.
“We want to show the area that it’s part of something bigger,” Jonathan said. “Working together on a bigger scale, you get better prices. We have more services, more training in the industry.”
A sample of what they will offer includes botox, chemical peels, facial fillers, laser services and more.
“It’s a medical day spa, but it doesn’t feel medical,” Jonathan said. “It’s meant to feel like a spa, but the treatment is a little more intense. … It’s not what I call a ‘rose pedal facial.’ That’s not what we do. Ours are aggressive, to really accomplish something.”
With 10 years of emergency room experience, Jonathan said the transition to the medical spa industry came as he reflected on something he wanted to be able to do for the rest of his life while using some of the skills he learned as a PA.
St. Joseph and Benton Harbor will be one of the smaller markets the company has a presence in, and Jonathan said he wants people here to know they are getting something special.
“To get a company with this much integrity and skill in the industry is kind of a big deal,” he said. “We don’t do dental work. We don’t do plastic surgery. We just do cosmetic skin care.”
The Aesthetics Lounge and Spa, 431 Upton Drive Suite 4, St Joseph, is hosting a Grand Opening Ceremony Sept. 29 from 4 to 7 p.m.
