The ninth edition of Golfers’ Choice was released this week, including the top 50 courses in the U.S. And Benton Harbor’s ‘Harbor Shores’ is high on the list at Number 9 in the country!
The Golfers Choice lists were unveiled on NBC Sports Next’s GolfPass, which uses user-generated reviews to determine the lists.
Seven courses in Michigan — there are nearly 800 courses in the state — made the top 50, according to GolfPass users. Golf Digest previously named Michigan one of the best golf destinations in the world, and the sport contributes more than $4 billion annually to the state’s economy.
Golfers’ Choice top courses in the U.S.
1. Mauna Lani Resort, South Course in Waimea, Hawaii
2. The Highlands Golf Club at Fisher Mountain in Franklin, West Virginia
3. Lick Creek Golf Course in Pekin, Illinois
4. La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc, California
5. Old Greenwood Golf Course at Tahoe Mountain Club, Truckee, California
6. TPC Sawgrass, Dye’s Valley Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida
7. The Traces Golf Club in Florence, South Carolina
8. Stonegate Golf Club
9. Harbor Shores
10. Journey at Pechanga in Temecula, California

Michigan also has several courses in Golf Magazine’s top 100 courses in the U.S. including Oakland Hills South in Bloomfield Hills, Crystal Downs in Frankfort and Kingsley Club in Kingsley. Golfweek’s Top 100 public courses list includes Arcadia Bluffs in Arcadia, Marquette Golf Club in Marquette and Forest Dunes in Roscommon.
