Just a short drive to Exit 46 on I-94, one of Van Buren County’s signature summer celebrations is getting ready to serve up another slice of small-town charm—topped with whipped cream and fresh strawberries.

The 37th Annual Hartford Strawberry Festival returns June 13 and 14, and organizers are once again rolling out the red (berry) carpet for visitors from across the region. Presented by the Hartford Area Chamber of Commerce, the two-day event continues to thrive as a family-friendly tradition that blends old-fashioned fun with the unmistakable flavor of Michigan summer.

Whether you’re in it for the parade, the pie eating contest, or a basket of just-picked berries, this annual favorite has something for everyone. This year’s lineup includes:

  • Colorful parade through downtown Hartford

  • Live local music throughout the weekend

  • A delightful magician show for the kids

  • The much-loved and messy pie eating contest

  • Carnival rides and games to thrill all ages

  • A street dance that keeps the energy going after sunset

  • Tasty treats from a wide array of food vendors

  • One-of-a-kind finds from local craft vendors

“The Hartford Strawberry Festival has become a beloved event that showcases the heart of our community,” said a representative of the Chamber. “Thanks to the support of our sponsors, volunteers, and attendees, we’re excited to celebrate 37 incredible years.”

Launched back in 1988, the festival has grown into a true hometown highlight—bringing together residents, neighbors, and curious road-trippers alike. For most folks in the area, Hartford is just 15-20 minutes up the road, making this an easy weekend outing with the kids.

So whether you’re hunting for strawberry shortcake, browsing handmade crafts, or simply enjoying the parade with the family, the Hartford Strawberry Festival is perfect.
