Hobby Lobby poised for opening–any day now

It depends on who you talk to, or what website you look at–but it appears that Hobby Lobby is on the brink of opening its new Benton Township store in the former Target location on Fairplain Drive.

Several unofficial reports on social media say the store will open Monday, September 1.  Another says there will be a ‘soft opening’ Friday, August 29.  No formal communications have been received from Hobby Lobby headquarters regarding the store opening.  Oddly, the company’s website makes reference to a Benton Harbor store being located in Deerfield, Illinois and being ‘temporarily closed.’

Whenever the tore opens, it’s expected to quickly dominate the arts and crafts supplies market, as it generally does around the country.

Hobby Lobby is using about half the former Target space.  A Home Goods store is expected to open soon in the adjacent space.  Again, no official word has come from Home Goods on an opening date, however construction appears to be in the final phase.
