When the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan first established its capital campaign with a goal of $2.1-million to build a long overdue new shelter they began fundraising in earnest to get the job done. By 2017 they had $1.4-million in hand and construction got underway, with the balance of $700,000 being financed through the mortgage process.
Now, with the grand opening of the new Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan Yeager Family Pet Center having taken place last year and the beautiful new center open for business, that $700,000 mortgage has been paid down to just below $300,000, but the need is still very much alive. The organization needs to raise roughly $145,000, which will then be matched by the Yeager Family Challenge grant on a 2-for-1 match so that they can retire the debt completely.
So, this year’s Humane Society annual campaign fundraiser has been established as the new Bets for Bets Casino Night coming on Saturday, May 11th, 2019 at the Hilton Garden Inn on Cinema Way in Benton Harbor.
Bets for Pets will be a full-on, professionally staffed Vegas-style night of casino games like craps, blackjack, Texas Hold’em, roulette and a money wheel. Your entry fee of $85 per ticket includes the night’s proceedings, startup poker chips, heavy hors d’oeuvres, music, photo booth, an open beer & wine bar, a unique new oxygen bar, a wine raffle, an Elvis Impersonator, and your chance to win some incredible prizes.
Additionally, there will be small live and silent auctions, with some impressive experiences and things up for bids including a private jet excursion, a hot tub, your chance to be a Greenbush Brewer for a Day, a Lost Dunes Golf package, the Tosi’s Chef Table Kitchen Experience, a private sailboat cruise and more.
By attending Bets for Pets Casino Night you can help the Humane Society pay off its mortgage and become debt free. The capital building fund continues and the need is even greater with the new shelter’s increased capacity and operating expenses.
