More than a dozen years ago Dr. Cheryl MacDonald launched the very first freestanding medical spa in St. Joseph in a colorful Victorian style home on the periphery of Caretel Inns of Lakeland, which at that time was known as Caretel Inns of Royalton. Now, with a new partnership developed over the past year and an opportunity to evolve, Dr. MacDonald’s Bellissima Medical Spa & Laser Center is changing ownership and will become the new Glo Medical Aesthetics & Wellness.
Still anchored in the colorful manse at 3900 Niles Road in St. Joseph, the business will advance to the next level in the coming days.
Last year Melissa Orrison joined Bellissima. She and Dr. MacDonald have known one another since they found themselves together as young practitioners in the emergency room, pregnant with their children. In the ensuing years, the two have worked together in many venues and developed a great partnership when Melissa arrived on Niles Road.
Together they expanded Bellissima’s injectables practice and added bio identical hormone replacement. Eventually, Melissa approached Cheryl regarding purchasing and rebranding the practice in order to further expand into aesthetics and wellness. That was a no-brainer for the good doctor and the transformation began.
Today, both Cheryl and Melissa have dispatched messages to their clientele extolling the virtues of the new Glo Medical Aesthetics & Wellness team which expands beyond their current medical spa services to include offerings that will address inner wellness as well.
There are some renovations underway at the practice to provide an even more relaxing space for those undergoing various treatments.
Melissa will now own and operate the practice, and Dr. MacDonald will remain on board providing medical injectable services and will be the Medical Director for Glo. In fact, all current staff members will continue on board including Donna Welche and Deanna Plank. Going forward, Melissa is looking for new staff members and new services to be offered.
Dr. MacDonald is excited about the evolution, saying of Melissa, “I especially know her for her integrity and excellent standard of care.” She says she has always believed in growth and changing with the times so the new image was “an easy decision.”
