One of the best parts about the Midwest is that all seasons are outdoor seasons! We look forward to snow-covered landscapes, and crunching footprints down paths and walkways. Even without snow, the slight chill of the air that shades our cheeks pink can be comforting.
River St. Joe in Buchanan invites you to embrace the weather and join in the fun for their first ‘Winter Family Frolic’, held on Sunday, December 11th. From 12 p.m to 3 p.m, enjoy an assortment of activities for the whole family, while savoring delicious beverages and delectable eats.
“We’ve always made it a point as a brewery and destination to be open to children of all ages, and to provide an environment where parents and kids are able to relax and enjoy themselves,” says Kat Amundson, HR & Operations Manager at River St. Joe. “This event is inspired by other children and family-oriented events that we have done in the past.”
Kids can enjoy an outdoor scavenger hunt, complete with prizes, and visit the Kids Craft Tent for lots of things to do! “Santa is going to be paying us a visit, and we’ll be taking pictures,” says Kat. Don’t fret about the temperature, as the outdoor tents, where most of the activities can be found, are heated.
Cozy up around the dancing flames of their many fire pits, and sip on mulled wine or hot cocoa, which will be available for purchase throughout the day. You can also buy a s’mores kit, to satisfy that sweet tooth! While you’re busy with the kids, ask about Sunday’s food + drink specials (though every menu item at River St. Joe is special!).
“There is no admission for this event, but we are running a Coat Drive this season for the Harbor Country Mission,” Kat adds. “We are accepting lightly used coats for all ages and bodies, if people would like to pay it forward during their visit.”
