Key Meeting on Buchanan Promise Tonight

The excitement was palpable last summer when the Michigan Gateway Community Foundation and Buchanan Schools rolled out initial word about the amazing new Buchanan Promise. That excitement was certainly understandable given the fact that the news immediately impacted every student in the system beginning this year. Now, the further details are emerging and tonight is a very important crossroads for the program so that everybody understands how it works and how to sign up.

The Buchanan Promise, a place-based educational scholarship available only to eligible graduates of Buchanan High School starting with the Class of 2017, will hold an information meeting at 6pm tonight, Thursday, January 19, 2017, in the Buchanan High School Auditorium at 401 West Chicago Street. The meeting is primarily for members of the Class of 2017 and their parents or guardians, but any current Buchanan family or those interested in residing in Buchanan and attending Buchanan Schools may attend.

Eligible students will receive information about the scholarship, have their individual questions regarding the scholarship answered, meet with college and community representatives and have the opportunity to complete a brief application for the scholarship at this meeting.
