The Krasl Art Center is getting a significant fundraising boost this season, thanks to a matching grant from the Frederick S. Upton Foundation that will double the impact of community donations made toward its arts and education programs.
The match comes as Krasl reports it is already more than halfway toward its current fundraising goal, with additional momentum coming from recent events such as a Bowling with the Teen Arts Council celebration marking a successful year of free after-school art programming.
According to Krasl officials, the matching grant presents a timely opportunity for donors interested in supporting arts access and education. Every dollar contributed during the match period is doubled, expanding resources for youth, families, and adult learners across the region.
Krasl Art Center’s education offerings span tuition-based studio classes, public events, youth programs, and partnerships throughout the community. While the formats vary, the programs are built around a shared philosophy that emphasizes inclusive learning environments, student-centered instruction, real-world connections to art, and valuing the creative process over the final product.
The organization says the additional funding will directly support programs, camps, and scholarships, helping its educators reach hundreds of students — including those who might not otherwise have easy access to arts education. Instruction is provided both in traditional classroom settings and throughout Krasl’s growing campus in St. Joseph.
Leaders at the center say the matching funds align closely with Krasl’s long-standing mission of strengthening community and inspiring meaningful change through the visual arts — a vision rooted in the belief that art can “make life more worthwhile.”
Krasl Art Center is located at 707 Lake Boulevard in St. Joseph. Donations supporting the matching campaign can be made through www.krasl.org .
