The Lake Michigan Youth Orchestra will showcase its talents with a concert this Sunday.
The talents of the LMYO Winds, Concert Strings, Encore Strings, and Youth Symphony will be on display at the annual spring concert, a unique opportunity for music lovers to experience the full artistic offerings of these student musicians.
Come enjoy soloists Rachel Madison playing Forsyth’s VIola Concerto and Maddie Kyncl playing Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 3. The groups will be conducted by Mark Hollandsworth, Beth Oeseburg, Rachel Cabanilla-Sinnett, and Burke Lokey.
The spring concert takes place Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 3 pm at The Howard Performing Arts Center, on the campus of Andrews University in Berrien Springs. (4160 E Campus Cir Dr., Berrien Springs, MI). Tickets are available at the door; $8 for adults, and $5 for students and seniors.
The Lake Michigan Youth Orchestra is an educational component of the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra. It has provided an orchestral experience for talented young student musicians in southwest Michigan for over 40 years. The four ensembles reflect the advancement to more complex music as students progress on their instruments. Concerts by the LMYO are the Run-Out Concert; a Winter Concert, and a Spring Concert. The LMYO program includes scholarships to summer music camps, sectional rehearsals with members of the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra and free tickets to SMSO concerts. The Youth Symphony, Encore Strings, LMYO Winds and Concert Strings rehearse Monday evenings throughout the school year.
Membership is by audition for all groups.
