This marks the fourth year the LEF has held the event, which wouldn’t be possible without the amazing support of dozens of area businesses and individual donors.
J.C, Anderson, Chairman of the Foundation, says, “I am always amazed at the generosity of the local businesses in supporting this event,” and adds, “These retailers are called upon almost every day for contributions, and they simply cannot support everything. Our ‘turndown rate’ by the retailers is extremely low, and we encourage our donors to support these local businesses.”
Lakeshore Public Schools remain in the bottom 25-percent of state revenue per student, and the Lakeshore Excellence Foundation works to close that funding gap by acquiring and distributing resources that support district programs and projects aimed at enhancing, enriching, or supplementing learning opportunities for students, staff and the community.
With the support of the LEF, Lakeshore Public Schools have been able to:
- Transform the libraries at every district school into 21st Century Learning Centers
- Implement Project Lead the Way, a nationally renowned STEM curriculum
- Supply each elementary and Language Arts classroom in the district with its own lending library
- Upgrade sound, lighting, and other technical components in the Community Auditorium ($660,000 project – due for completion in 2020)
The LEF has also been huge supporters of:
- First Robotics
- Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs
- Musical productions
Last year in 2019, the LEF online action raised $19,000 for Lakeshore Public Schools. To donate, or learn more about the Lakeshore Excellence Foundation, visit: www.lefonline.org
