Leading female executive at Whirlpool Corporation leaving for new opportunity

Whirlpool Corporation’s Executive Vice President of global procurement is leaving the company. In a company announcement, Chief Executive Officer Marc Bitzer confirmed Elizabeth “Liz” Door (pictured at center above), Executive Vice President, Global Strategic Sourcing is leaving Whirlpool Corporation effective May 31, 2023, to pursue an outside career opportunity. 

“Liz has been instrumental in leading (the North America Region) procurement and later the global procurement organization to a new level and has been a valued member of the Executive Committee,” Bitzer said.

In the same announcement, Bitzer confirmed Alessandro Lombardi will succeed Liz as Senior Vice President of Global Strategic Sourcing, effective June 1. Lombardi joined Whirlpool Corporation in 1995. He most recently served as Vice President of Procurement for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

“Elizabeth Door joined Whirlpool Corporation in January 2011 as the Vice President of the North American Region – Global Strategic Sourcing where she managed approximately $8 B in annual purchase value which included Direct Materials, Indirect Materials and Finished Product Sourcing for Mexico, United States and Canada. In 2017, Elizabeth was named Senior Vice President for Whirlpool Corporation leading Global Strategic Sourcing for Whirlpool Corporation. Elizabeth is responsible for managing the purchase of Direct Materials, Indirect Materials and Finished Product Sourcing for all global facilities.

“Elizabeth was previously with General Motors Corporation from 1995 – 2010. Elizabeth held various positions in the Global Purchasing and Supply Chain Function at General Motors Corporation. Her last role prior to joining Whirlpool; was the Global Purchasing & Supply Chain Director for Automotive Interiors & Safety overseeing a purchase value of $6 billion and leading a global team in Mexico, USA, Korea, China, Latin America and Europe.

“Elizabeth is a 2004 graduate of the Executive MBA program from Michigan State University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University.”

No word yet on the “outside career opportunity” Door is pursuing, but we’ll update this story as developments occur.
