In just four short years it has become one of the most popular 5K runs in the entire region thanks to the hard work and dedication of the LECO family of employees and friends. The Fit 4 Fall 5K Run/Walk makes a triumphant return for the 5th annual edition of the great run and best of all, it continues to benefit three well-deserving charities efforts in our area.
Registration is now available for the 5th annual Fit 4 Fall 5K Run/Walk, scheduled for 9:00am Saturday, October 8, at Riverview Park in St. Joseph. What started as a fitness challenge for LECO employees has now turned into one of the most popular fall races in all of Berrien County, with event funds going to support three fantastic charities— Hospice at Home, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the Sonya Ansari Center for Autism in Southwest Michigan.
From now through September 18th, early registration fees are $20 for adults and $10 for youth (ages 14 and under). After September 18, sign-up fees increase to $25 for adults and $15 for youth. The first 500 registrants will receive a race shirt and goody bag. As has become tradition, a silent auction will also take place with item donations from local businesses available for bid. The race will begin and end at Riverview Park’s Woodbine Lodge, taking runners and walkers through the park’s scenic trails and wooded terrain. Chip timing will be used to determine winners for age divisions, and medals will be awarded to the top three male and female runners and walkers in each age group.
Opportunities are still available for businesses to participate in the Fit 4 Fall 5K as sponsors, providing goody bag contributions, or by donating items for the silent auction.
