On the heels of shutting down its downtown St. Joseph store recently, the Lee & Birch women’s clothing chain in West Michigan is calling it quits entirely.
Lee & Birch closed stores in Rockford, Grand Haven and Saugatuck late last week, staged a one day Going Out of Business Sale in Rockford Friday and turned off the lights. Outlets in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo had closed last fall.
In a social media post, ownership said they poured all their business resources and energy into keeping the business going, but could not overcome the conditions that small businesses are facing in the current economy.
